Sorweide Family Medicine P.C. is a family practice medical office located in Grants Pass, Oregon.  Dr. Derrick Sorweide D.O. has been practicing in Grants Pass since 1999. We are located in the beautiful Grants Pass Medical Center building on the corner of Hawthorne Avenue and Hillcrest Drive in Northwest Grants Pass.   Our office accepts most insurances including but not limited to:  Mid-Rogue IPA, Familycare,  BlueCross, , Pacific Source and United Healthcare. We are open to Medicare patients occasionally, please call to check.                          

 Dr. Sorweide was born in Seattle and grew up in Las Vegas.  He received his bachelors' degree from  Northern Arizona University.  The next two years he spent working in chronic pain and sports medicine clinics while attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Dr. Sorweide received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the prestigious Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996.  While living in Dallas, Texas he served his internship and family practice residency.  Dr. Sorweide is passionate about education and enjoys teaching medical students at the newly opened Western University Medical School  in Lebanon, Oregon.  Medical students often rotate into Sorweide Family Medicine for part of their training.  Having a lifelong passion for fishing and the outdoors, Dr. Sorweide moved his family to Grants Pass in 1999. Dr. Sorweide is also an assistant soccer coach for a local youth team. He has a strong connection to Grants Pass and always works at supporting the community he loves.  In 1996, Dr. Sorweide married his longtime sweetheart, Kim, and they have three beautiful children.

    Dr. Sorweide is Board Certified in Family Practice, seeing patients from pediatrics to geriatrics.  As a trained Osteopathic Physician, Dr. Sorweide believes in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms.  His approach to your medical health incorporates strong knowledge, experience, and compassion. This partnership will empower you to take control of your healthcare.  Dr. Sorweide's training allows him to specialize in osteopathic manipulation in combination with lifestyle changes, medications, and surgery for acute and chronic ailments.
